Amazon's Legal Department is seeking a skilled attorney to provide support for our regulatory compliance and strategic initiatives concerning artificial intelligence at Amazon Web Services (AWS). AWS delivers a comprehensive suite of AI and machine learning solutions for cloud clients, enabling developers to create, train, and implement AI systems.

In this position, you will collaborate closely with business and legal teams as the primary counsel to formulate regulatory compliance strategies and plans related to artificial intelligence. Key responsibilities include: identifying legal risks and suggesting mitigation approaches; advising on regulatory and compliance issues, privacy, intellectual property, and market entry strategies; contributing to business strategy discussions; and analyzing and shaping AI/ML policy positions globally. Your role will involve engaging with a diverse array of stakeholders, including privacy, public relations, and public policy teams.

You will devise strategies for addressing legal challenges in innovative, business-oriented ways, and you will establish processes that manage risk while enabling the business to innovate and expand rapidly. The ideal candidate will be curious, passionate about technology, enjoy tackling challenges, and exhibit sound judgment in uncertain situations. Crafting innovative solutions to unique legal challenges is part of our everyday operations. Compensation is commensurate with experience and includes equity compensation.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

5+ years of legal experience
- Juris Doctor and membership in one state bar or equivalent

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

Experience in AI, technology, or policy and regulatory compliance strategy
- Ability to operate both independently and collaboratively within a cross-functional team
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Practical business judgment
- Excellent organizational abilities, capable of managing multiple projects simultaneously, ensuring follow-through and meeting deadlines
