The Legal Department at Amazon is seeking a skilled attorney to provide support for our regulatory compliance and strategic initiatives concerning artificial intelligence within Amazon Web Services (AWS). AWS delivers a diverse array of AI and machine learning solutions for cloud clients, enabling developers to create, train, and implement AI systems effectively.
Key Responsibilities
In this capacity, you will collaborate closely with both business and legal teams as the primary legal advisor to formulate regulatory compliance strategies and plans pertaining to artificial intelligence. Your responsibilities will encompass:
- Assessing legal risks and recommending strategies for mitigation;
- Providing counsel on regulatory and compliance issues, privacy, intellectual property, and market entry strategies;
- Contributing insights to business strategy;
- Evaluating and shaping AI/ML policy positions globally.
Collaboration and Innovation

Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in AI, technology, or regulatory compliance strategy;
- Capability to operate independently as well as collaboratively within a cross-functional team;
- Exceptional written and verbal communication abilities;
- Practical business acumen and judgment;
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously, ensuring timely completion.
Minimum Requirements
- A minimum of 5 years of legal experience;
- Juris Doctor degree and membership in one state bar or equivalent;
- A blend of experience in corporate law firms and in-house legal departments.

Our compensation reflects the labor market across various US geographic regions. The base salary for this role ranges from $138,500 to $229,000, depending on the geographic market. Pay is influenced by several factors, including market location, and may vary based on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon offers a comprehensive compensation package that may include equity, sign-on bonuses, and a full range of medical, financial, and other benefits.
