General Duties & Responsibilities
- Provide warm and welcoming greetings via phone and in-person interactions.
- Ensure that documentation and Electronic Medical Records (EMR) systems are current and accurately completed.
- Input patient medical histories and prescriptions into the EMR system.
- Educate patients and address their inquiries in the office or over the phone as necessary.
- Schedule appointments for new, returning, and follow-up patients.
- Verify patient insurance coverage.
- Process patient check-outs, including collecting copays and outstanding balances as required.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Job Qualifications
Education:
High School diploma, GED, or equivalent.
Experience:
A minimum of two to three years of experience in a medical office setting. Experience in a dermatology office is preferred but not mandatory. Familiarity with Electronic Healthcare Record software is advantageous but not essential.
Performance Requirements
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Proficient mathematical abilities.
- Knowledge of medical dermatology terminology, including CPT and ICD-9/10 codes.
- Professional demeanor and appearance.
- Ability to demonstrate empathy and care in interactions with patients and colleagues.
- Capable of discussing the products and services offered.
- Ability to prioritize tasks, comprehend provider instructions, and know when to seek clarification or assistance.
Equipment Operated:
Standard office equipment, including computers, fax machines, copiers, printers, and telephones.
Work Environment:
The position is situated in a well-lit medical office environment, with occasional evening and weekend shifts.
Physical Requirements:
Must possess the manual dexterity to operate office machinery, including computers and calculators; ability to stoop and bend to manage files and supplies; and mobility to complete errands or deliveries. Includes handling of sharps and chemicals. Stress may arise from multiple staff demands and deadlines.
