Position Overview:
The Construction Safety Supervisor plays a crucial role in championing and implementing the corporate Health, Safety & Environment (HSE) initiatives while offering safety guidance to construction activities. This role necessitates collaboration with field teams to foster a secure working environment for all personnel, employing independent judgment to address safety concerns effectively.
Key Responsibilities:
- Uphold, enforce, and actively advocate for all corporate safety protocols, ensuring compliance with our primary core value – Safety is paramount in all operations.
- Collaborate with the HSE Department to oversee the comprehensive corporate safety program, which includes conducting, monitoring, and reporting on incidents, near misses, audits, engagement activities, observations, orientations, training sessions, and maintaining related documentation.
- Support project teams in planning and creating job hazard analyses and safe work procedures. Conduct regular safety inspections, incident investigations (including root cause analysis), industrial hygiene evaluations, and safety audits on ongoing construction sites.
- Generate daily and weekly reports detailing all safety-related activities.
- Facilitate safety orientations and training sessions for small and large groups.
- Undertake additional tasks as required by the organization's needs or as directed.
Required Qualifications:
- A Bachelor's degree in a safety-related discipline is strongly preferred.
- 3-7 years of practical safety experience in heavy civil construction, transportation, or a related field.
- Familiarity with general construction safety and health regulations, including OSHA standards.
- Certification as a Health & Safety Technician (CHST) or equivalent is strongly preferred.
- Experience with Maintenance of Traffic (MOT) is preferred.
- OSHA Authorized Construction Trainer certification.
- Exceptional verbal and written communication skills.
- Proficient in computer applications, including the Office 365 productivity suite.
Essential Attributes:
- Ability to adapt to diverse personalities and management styles.
- Dependence on experience and judgment to plan and achieve objectives with minimal oversight.
- Self-driven, committed, and industrious.
- Above-average organizational capabilities.
- Bilingual (English/Spanish) is preferred.
- Willingness to travel within the region.
