Responsibilities of the Hospice Aide/Certified Nursing Assistant:

  • Report to the Administrator, Executive Director, or Patient Care Manager and work under the supervision of a Registered Nurse or Clinical Supervisor.
  • Assist patients in maintaining personal hygiene and a safe living environment.
  • Prepare and serve light meals, and assist with feeding as necessary.
  • Support patients in mobility and the safe use of assistive devices.
  • Perform light housekeeping duties, including changing linens and emptying trash.
  • Engage patients in activities to promote mental alertness.
  • Provide emotional and psychological support to patients and their families.
  • Document any changes in the patient's condition and communicate with the healthcare team.
  • Adhere to infection control protocols and maintain accurate visit documentation.
  • Participate in staff meetings and quality improvement activities as assigned.
Candidate Profile

Qualifications for the Hospice Aide/CNA Role:

  • A compassionate and empathetic approach to patient care.
  • Ability to provide care in various home settings.
  • Flexibility and composure in crisis situations.
  • Current Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) license.
  • Preferred six months of experience in hospice, home health, or similar settings.
  • Valid driver's license and automobile insurance.
  • Current CPR certification.
