As a Hospice Aide/Certified Nursing Assistant, your duties will include:
- Reporting to the Administrator, Executive Director, or Patient Care Manager and working under the supervision of a Registered Nurse or Clinical Supervisor.
- Assisting patients in maintaining personal hygiene.
- Ensuring a safe and healthy living environment.
- Preparing and serving light meals.
- Providing assistance with feeding as needed.
- Supporting patient mobility and ambulation.
- Facilitating the safe use of mobility aids, such as walkers or wheelchairs, under nurse supervision.
- Performing light housekeeping tasks, including trash disposal and linen changes.
- Assisting with specific treatments as outlined in the aide plan of care and in accordance with state regulations.
- Encouraging patient engagement in activities to promote mental alertness.
- Offering basic emotional and psychological support to patients and their families.
- Reporting any changes in the patient's condition to the nursing staff and interdisciplinary team.
- Providing fundamental care training to primary caregivers.
- Adhering to infection control protocols and standard precautions.
- Maintaining accurate documentation of visits.
- Participating in staff meetings and quality improvement activities as assigned.
- Completing documentation promptly as per orientation guidelines.
Requirements for Hospice Aide/CNA:
- A compassionate and empathetic approach to patient care.
- Comfortable providing care in various home settings.
- Ability to remain flexible and composed in crisis situations.
- Valid Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) license.
- Preferred experience of at least six months in patient care within hospice, home health, ICU, geriatric, or oncology settings.
- Additional preferred experience in hospital settings such as Med Surg, PACU, ER, critical care, or nursing homes.
- Current driver's license and automobile insurance.
- Valid CPR certification.
