POSITION OVERVIEW

The Clinical Pharmacy Specialist (CPS) is a licensed pharmacist dedicated to leveraging their knowledge, skills, and clinical expertise in a focused area of pharmacy practice. The CPS plays a pivotal role in advancing pharmacy excellence and optimizing medication management. The responsibilities of the CPS encompass advanced practice, education, consultation, leadership, and research.

The CPS utilizes their pharmacotherapy knowledge and clinical training to directly influence physician prescribing practices, aiming to enhance medication utilization across the Health System and improve therapeutic outcomes. As a vital member of the healthcare team, the CPS takes charge of the appropriate selection and monitoring of drug therapies through direct patient care initiatives.

Additional responsibilities include mentoring pharmacy doctoral students, training pharmacy residents, engaging in staff development, and creating avenues for pharmacists to practice in a more clinical capacity while advocating for rational and cost-effective medication use at Grady Health System.

REQUIREMENTS
  • Doctor of Pharmacy Degree from an ACPE-accredited School of Pharmacy, with licensure or eligibility for licensure in the State of Georgia within 120 days.
  • Completion of ASHP-accredited PGY-1 and PGY-2 Residencies (or five (5) years of experience post-PGY-1 residency).
  • BPS Board Certification is preferred.
