Job Summary

The Advanced Lung Disease Clinical Nurse Specialist will serve as the clinical liaison for the Piedmont Healthcare ALD Program in the ambulatory setting. Under the direction of the ALD providers, the specialty nurse will coordinate clinical activities in accordance with orders, policies, and protocols.

Key Responsibilities

  • Triage and Assessment: Manage incoming triage calls, perform nursing assessments, and collect data to assist patients.
  • Clinical Support: Provide compassionate and focused nursing support to patients, caregivers, and family members, and educate them on disease management and treatment options.
  • Documentation and Coordination: Document patient information accurately, schedule appointments, and coordinate referrals to outside services.
  • Program Development: Participate in planning activities and coordination for pulmonary support groups, including pulmonary hypertension and pulmonary fibrosis groups.
  • Medication Management: Coordinate scheduling of lab testing and medication titration for patients on high-risk medications, and report any abnormal findings to ALD providers.
  • Specialty Pharmacy Support: Assist with new specialty pharmacy-provided medication enrollments, prior authorizations, insurance appeals, and financial assistance.
  • Representation and Collaboration: Represent Piedmont Healthcare to national nonprofit organizations and accrediting bodies, and participate on relevant committees and attend national meetings and conferences.

Requirements

  • Education: Successful completion of an accredited registered nurse program or bachelors degree in nursing.
  • Experience: None required.
  • Licensure/Certification: State of Georgia Licensure as a registered nurse required.
