Job Overview:

The Process Engineer plays a crucial role in delivering technical guidance and support to manufacturing operations at Cooper Standard. This position is dedicated to the standardization of processes across various product lines, encompassing the creation and upkeep of specifications for equipment selection and procurement, cost estimation, and the dissemination of best practices throughout the organization. Collaboration with Sales, Engineering, Finance, Purchasing, and Cost Estimating teams is essential.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Collaborate with manufacturing facilities to drive cost reduction, enhance quality, and foster advancements in both process and product technologies.
  • Lead initiatives for the research and implementation of innovative or improved equipment, tooling, and processes to meet evolving production demands.
  • Engage with external machinery suppliers, machine shops, and plant engineering and maintenance teams in these initiatives.
  • Assist in validating new processes as required, which may involve negotiating approvals or revisions to customer product specifications.
  • Initiate projects and tasks through innovative thinking, leveraging manufacturing and product expertise.
  • Evaluate the feasibility and capability of proposed product and process enhancements using statistical analysis.
  • Facilitate the transfer of products and processes between different manufacturing sites.
  • Develop a comprehensive understanding of Cooper Standard's product lines beyond the primary discipline.
  • Act as a communication bridge between technical and manufacturing sites, including global regions, for process development, best practice sharing, and standardization.
  • Mentor junior program engineers.
  • Stay informed on best practices, processes, and customer needs.
  • Keep abreast of advancements in manufacturing and product technology through interactions with suppliers, customers, and industry publications.
  • May occasionally perform additional duties as assigned.

Education and Qualifications:
  • A Bachelor's Degree in Engineering is preferred.
  • Typically requires a minimum of two years of relevant experience.
  • Ability to solve problems in standard situations and analyze potential solutions using technical expertise and judgment.
  • Influences the quality and effectiveness of personal work and that of the team, adhering to guidelines and policies to meet objectives and deadlines.
  • Capable of conveying moderately complex information succinctly to others.
  • Strong written and presentation skills.
  • Possesses solid technical and mechanical aptitude.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications.
  • Adept at assessing risks and prioritizing tasks.
  • Willingness to travel as necessary.

Work Environment:
  • Professional office setting.
  • Compliance with personal protective equipment requirements while on the manufacturing floor.
  • Travel to manufacturing facilities or customer locations as needed.
  • Proper training on equipment use and injury prevention is required.
