Job Overview:
The Governance & Control Specialist oversees a portfolio of governance and control initiatives for moderately complex or high-risk business or functional areas, implementing policies, processes, and initiatives to adhere to governance and control standards.

Interprets internal and external business challenges and the industry landscape, recommending actions and best practices to enhance products, processes, or services.

Leads cross-functional teams or projects with significant resource requirements, risk, and complexity.
Independently manages end-to-end functional programs.

Education & Experience:
Undergraduate degree preferred.
7+ years of relevant experience.
Advanced understanding of business operations and knowledge of risk and control functions.
In-depth knowledge of governance, risk, and control procedures, strategies, and tactics.
Awareness of current and emerging market trends and competitor activities.
Ability to set goals and objectives that support the execution of delivery across multiple teams.
Ability to influence the direction of the function and provide guidance to the team and delivery leadership.
Ability to lead, plan, execute, and assess project activities to ensure the successful completion of initiatives.
Skills in mentoring and performance management.
Proficiency in analytical software tools, data analysis methods, and reporting techniques.
Competence in using computer applications, including MS Office and industry standards.

Develops and documents a comprehensive inventory of processes and controls with clearly defined ownership and responsibilities for each process and control.
Participates in the assessment of applicable regulations, evaluating their impact on the business line, and mapping associated controls to rules and regulations.
Reviews end-to-end processes and controls, identifying connections across issues and control deficiencies across various business units to enhance standardization of solutions, processes, and controls.
Leads the integrated execution of policies, procedures, and changes across multiple functional areas.
Provides direction to complex, wide-ranging enterprise or cross-functional projects as a subject matter expert, identifying risks and offering guidance for complex situations while participating in the design, testing, and implementation of solutions.
Acts as a lead in their area of specialization, maintaining awareness of industry, enterprise, and business trends; recognizing and anticipating emerging trends; identifying issues and opportunities, and recommending actions to senior management in the governance and control domain.
