Role Summary
The Senior Patient Account Specialist plays a crucial role in ensuring the accurate and prompt billing and collection of healthcare services. This position involves:
- Managing billing processes, accounts receivable follow-ups, and resolving credit balances to facilitate claim payments.
- Identifying and analyzing trends to enhance the efficiency of the revenue cycle.
- Delivering exceptional customer service to healthcare personnel, insurance representatives, and patients.
- Documenting all follow-up actions in the practice management system.
- Educating patients about their insurance plans and coverage.
Key Responsibilities
The Senior Patient Account Specialist is responsible for:
- Ensuring compliance with the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) to protect patient information.
- Maintaining confidentiality of all patient data.
- Utilizing effective communication skills to convey information clearly and positively, in alignment with the company's mission.
- Adhering to established policies, procedures, and quality assurance standards.
- Supporting the company's cultural diversity objectives and ethical standards.
- Performing additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications
To be considered for this role, candidates should possess:
- A high school diploma or equivalent; additional college coursework is advantageous.
- Proficiency in operating office equipment such as telephones, computers, copiers, fax machines, and 10-key calculators.
