In this role, you will be tasked with the creation and adjustment of design calculations, technical documentation, engineering plans, and specifications for designated projects. You will collaborate with the project manager to conduct research, development, calculations, design, and execution. Your expertise will be essential in applying engineering methodologies, procedures, and design standards for projects of varying sizes and complexities. You will utilize your technical acumen to resolve design-related challenges, working closely with the project manager through innovative problem-solving, client interactions, and timely task completion to adhere to project timelines. You will also develop both conceptual and detailed designs and calculations to facilitate project completion using contemporary drawing and technical tools, programs, and software. Additionally, you may mentor and review the work of junior engineering staff, providing constructive guidance. As a vital team member, your contributions will be key to the successful delivery of diverse projects for HNTB's clientele.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee the planning and allocation of discipline-specific tasks, ensuring adherence to project schedules and budgets.
  • Support marketing efforts, including the preparation of proposals.
  • Assist in defining the scope of work and estimating the level of effort for projects and assignments within your discipline.
  • Ensure the completeness and accuracy of the project team's outputs within the technical discipline, guiding and mentoring the team towards achieving overall project goals.
  • Coordinate technical project aspects with client representatives and team partners at the staff level within your discipline.
  • Collaborate closely with other disciplines on multi-disciplinary projects.
  • Perform additional duties as required.

Required Qualifications:

  • A Master's degree in Engineering with 5 years of relevant experience, or
  • A PhD in Engineering with 4 years of relevant experience.

Desired Skills:

  • A strong understanding of how decisions impact technical design and work planning.
  • Ability to effectively coordinate work planning and design across multiple technical disciplines.
  • Proven track record of delivering high-quality outputs that are timely, within budget, and aligned with project scope.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • A Master's degree in Engineering.
  • 8 years of relevant experience.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) certification.
  • American Institute of Certified Planners (AICP) certification (depending on discipline).
