Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Referral Coordinator to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for evaluating and coordinating organ and tissue referrals, discussing donation options with family members, and obtaining consent.

Key Responsibilities
  • Evaluate potential organ donors in conjunction with the Administrator on Call (AOC) based on current and past medical and social history.
  • Assess the care plan, neurological & hemodynamic status, and family communication plan with the medical staff.
  • Request appropriate medical interventions with the guidance of the AOC.
  • Obtain appropriate blood specimens for serological and HLA testing and ME evaluation.
  • Communicate with outside agencies to facilitate laboratory testing.
  • May coordinate Operating Room recoveries.
  • Occasionally speak with potential donor families and obtain authorization and medical/social history.
Requirements
  • At least three years' experience in a critical care/trauma, surgical or comparable clinical environment working in the capacity of Registered Nurse or six years as a Paramedic.
  • Certification in ACLS or PALS or as an EMT-P required.
  • Highly skilled, self-motivated individuals who are committed to join our challenging field by helping to save lives through organ and tissue donation.
  • Strong both clinically and compassionately competent, who understand the sensitivity, yet clinical urgency of the Organ Transplant program.
