About the Role

We are seeking a skilled Blood Collection Specialist to join our team at the American Red Cross. As a key member of our organization, you will play a vital role in collecting lifesaving blood donations that are delivered to hospitals.

Key Responsibilities
  • Drive blood collection vehicles to transport required supplies, equipment, blood products, and staff to and from mobile sites.
  • Load and unload trucks and other vehicles.
  • Connect with donors, listen to their stories, and help them understand the impact of their donation.
  • Collaborate with teammates to create a welcoming and friendly environment for volunteer donors.
  • Ensure that the blood collected meets goals, regulatory requirements, and can be safely transfused.
  • Work with the team to set up and tear down equipment at donation sites.
Requirements
  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Customer service experience and effective verbal communication skills are required.
  • A current, valid driver's license with a good driving record is required.
  • Physical requirements may include the ability to lift, push, or pull heavy weights up and down ramps and stairs, good manual dexterity, and the ability to sit or stand for long periods of time.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Prior healthcare or phlebotomy experience (CNA, MA, EMT, etc.).
  • Prior leadership experience.
