POSITION SUMMARY

This professional-level role is integral to the mission of the Intelligence and National Security Alliance, focusing on the preservation and restoration of biodiversity through the establishment of innovative wildlife conservation initiatives, policies, and regulations. The Policy Analyst plays a crucial role in formulating and advocating for national conservation policies, securing necessary funding, and enhancing partnerships aimed at wildlife conservation on private lands. Collaboration with various departments, including Field Conservation, Center for Conservation Innovation (CCI), Government Relations, Conservation Law, Communications, and Development, is essential for conducting policy research and analysis, as well as developing partnerships and programs that promote science-based wildlife conservation across the nation.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  1. Conduct comprehensive research and analysis of federal and selected state laws, regulations, policies, administrative initiatives, draft regulations, and federal projects pertinent to wildlife conservation on private lands.
  2. Draft summaries, fact sheets, technical comments, testimonies, and other materials that articulate policies and proposals along with the organization's stance on these matters.
  3. Collaborate with Government Relations personnel to educate congressional offices on issues related to private lands conservation policy. Assist in identifying legislative advocates and coordinating outreach efforts to advance a progressive conservation agenda.
  4. Foster and maintain productive relationships with congressional staff, federal agency officials, state governments, landowner organizations, land trusts, and other stakeholders to achieve mutual conservation objectives.
  5. Participate in local, regional, or national meetings concerning private lands and state wildlife conservation policy.
  6. Research, write, and/or edit reports, web content, blogs, social media posts, and other publications for the organization.
  7. Represent the organization in public meetings, hearings, press events, conferences, coalitions, and in communications with public officials, legislators, the media, members, donors, and the general public to advance organizational goals.
  8. Collaborate with Development staff to secure operational funding for the Landscape Conservation department.
  9. Travel may be required for domestic engagements.
  10. Perform all other related duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS

Education: Bachelor's (B.A./B.S.) degree or equivalent

Experience: 4 years of relevant experience. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be accepted as a satisfactory substitute for the specific education and experience listed above.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES

Administrative: Proficient in maintaining electronic and physical records accurately and efficiently.

Communication: Exceptional ability to communicate clearly and accurately with diverse stakeholders, articulating complex ideas concisely and effectively.

Critical Thinking: Strong research and analytical skills, capable of synthesizing information from various sources to produce high-quality work products.

Project Management: Ability to manage multiple projects under tight deadlines while remaining flexible to shifting priorities.

Coalition and Community Engagement: Strong interpersonal skills to build effective working relationships with a variety of stakeholders.

Conservation Knowledge: In-depth understanding of legal, scientific, and political issues related to wildlife conservation.

PHYSICAL ACTIVITIES AND ENVIRONMENTAL CONDITIONS

Physical activities may include remaining stationary for prolonged periods, moving about to accomplish tasks, and communicating with others. The position primarily involves sedentary work.

Environmental conditions are generally stable, with no adverse conditions expected.
