Job Summary

Federal Signal is seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented individual to join our Safety Department as a Safety Coordinator. This role is responsible for ensuring compliance with all corporate safety program expectations and applicable federal and state laws governing the health and safety of individuals.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop and implement safety training programs to meet established safety goals and objectives.
  • Conduct regular audits and inspections to ensure compliance with safety regulations and company policies.
  • Manage and maintain records of employee training, including audiometric and respirator fit testing.
  • Assist with incident investigations and complete reports tracking incident completion and production supervisor safety goals.
  • Manage plant environmental requirements, including permits, waste management, and hazardous material storage.
  • Perform risk assessments and audit labeling of chemicals and storage.
  • Follow all governmental agency hazardous material requirements, including proper storage, labeling, and removal.
  • Complete annual facility chemical audit and maintain the SDS system.
  • Track personal protective equipment (PPE) purchases and schedule on-site shoe mobile visits.
  • Manage and track forklift inspections and participate in 5S/6S Lean activities.
  • Provide administrative support to the Safety and Maintenance department as required.
Requirements:
  • High school diploma or associate degree preferred.
  • 3-5 years' experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills to train others and create procedures/presentations.
  • Ability to work in a team environment and with all levels of employees.
  • Self-starter with initiative and ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to plan, prioritize, and complete work on schedule.
  • Demonstrated proficiency with Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Strong ability to multi-task.
