Healthworks Safety, LLC is seeking a dedicated Site Safety & Health Officer (SSHO) to enhance our team.

The SSHO will oversee a project-specific safety and health program, ensuring adherence to safety regulations and the welfare of all personnel involved, including employees, subcontractors, and the public.

This role requires a thorough evaluation and coordination of project activities to align with the standards established by EM385-1-1, OSHA CFR 1926, and company policies, as well as site-specific safety regulations.

Experience with the United States Army Corps of Engineers (USACE), crane and rigging knowledge, and familiarity with concrete and silica exposure are essential.


Key Responsibilities:
  • Engage in safety pre-planning and hazard assessments for upcoming tasks.
  • Collaborate with project superintendents and team members to review project timelines.
  • Participate in pre-planning and coordination meetings as necessary.
  • Conduct Site-Specific Safety Orientations for all personnel upon arrival.
  • Maintain required safety documentation for employees and subcontractors.
  • Ensure completion of daily Safe Work Plans and Permits, reviewing them with work crews prior to task initiation.
  • Administer record-keeping and reporting as mandated by regulatory bodies and company policies.
  • Assist in developing Activity Hazard Analyses (AHA's) for all subcontractors, securing necessary approvals.
  • Perform documented daily and weekly safety audits, addressing deficiencies and implementing corrective actions.
  • Facilitate weekly All Hands Safety Meetings.
  • Conduct investigations for accidents, incidents, and near-misses, submitting reports to relevant personnel.
  • Provide training and coaching for observed at-risk behaviors.
  • Enforce The Haskell Company Code of Safe Practice across the project.
  • Support the project superintendent in maintaining a safe work environment.
  • Issue necessary permits for hot work, trenching/excavation, and confined spaces.
  • Accompany authorized personnel during safety inspections.

Qualifications:
  • A minimum of 5 years of continuous experience in construction safety.
  • Completion of OSHA 30-hour construction industry course within the last 3 years.
  • EM385 40-hour certification (to be completed within 90 days of assignment).
  • Knowledge of crane and rigging operations.
  • Completion of OSHA Course #500 (OSHA outreach program trainer).
  • Comprehensive understanding of EM385-1-1, OSHA CFR 1926, and the ability to enforce relevant regulations.
  • Competency in fall protection, scaffolding, confined spaces, steel erection, silica exposure, and crane operations.
  • Knowledge of electrical safety and Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) requirements.
  • Understanding of mobile equipment operations and necessary skills.
  • Ability to identify hazardous situations and implement corrective measures.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel.
  • Commitment to ongoing safety education, maintaining a minimum of 8 hours annually.

Physical Requirements:

This position requires ordinary ambulatory skills to navigate various locations, along with the ability to stand, walk, stoop, kneel, crouch, and lift/move light to medium weights (10-50 pounds).

Good hand-eye coordination and dexterity are essential, including the ability to grasp and visual acuity for using a keyboard and operating equipment.

Frequent activities include sitting, reaching with hands and arms, talking, and hearing.
