Healthworks Safety, LLC is seeking a dedicated Site Safety & Health Officer (SSHO) to enhance our team.

The SSHO will oversee the safety and health protocols specific to projects, ensuring adherence to regulations and the protection of all personnel involved, including employees, subcontractors, and the public.

This role involves assessing and coordinating project tasks to align with standards established by EM385-1-1, OSHA CFR 1926, and internal policies, along with site-specific safety regulations.

Ideal candidates will possess experience with the United States Army Corps of Engineers (USACE), knowledge of crane and rigging operations, and familiarity with concrete work and silica exposure risks.


Key Responsibilities:
  • Engage in safety pre-planning and hazard assessments for forthcoming tasks.
  • Collaborate with project superintendents and team members to review project timelines.
  • Participate in pre-planning sessions, subcontractor meetings, and coordination discussions as necessary.
  • Conduct Site-Specific Safety Orientations for all personnel upon arrival.
  • Maintain required safety documentation for employees and subcontractors, including Competent Persons Documents and Training Records.
  • Ensure completion of daily Safe Work Plans and Permits, reviewing them with crews prior to commencing work.
  • Administer record-keeping and reporting as mandated by regulatory bodies and company policies.
  • Assist in creating Activity Hazard Analyses (AHA's) for subcontractors, obtaining necessary approvals.
  • Perform documented daily and weekly safety audits, identifying deficiencies and recommending corrective actions.
  • Facilitate weekly All Hands Safety Meetings.
  • Conduct investigations into accidents, incidents, and near-misses, completing necessary reports.
  • Provide training and coaching for at-risk behaviors observed on-site.
  • Support the enforcement of safety practices throughout the project.
  • Assist the project superintendent in maintaining a safe work environment and undertake additional responsibilities as needed.
  • Issue permits for hot work, trenching/excavation, and confined spaces as required.
  • Accompany authorized personnel during safety inspections.

Qualifications:
  • A minimum of 5 years of experience in construction safety.
  • Completion of OSHA 30-hour construction course within the last 3 years.
  • EM385 40-hour certification (to be obtained within 90 days of hire).
  • Knowledge of crane and rigging operations.
  • Completion of OSHA Course #500 (OSHA outreach program trainer).
  • Thorough understanding of EM385-1-1 and OSHA CFR 1926, with the ability to enforce relevant regulations.
  • Competency in fall protection, scaffolding, confined spaces, steel erection, silica exposure, and crane operations.
  • Knowledge of electrical safety and Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) requirements.
  • Understanding of mobile equipment operations and necessary skills.
  • Ability to identify hazardous situations and implement corrective measures.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel.
  • Commitment to ongoing safety education, maintaining at least 8 hours annually.

Physical Requirements:

This position requires the ability to navigate various locations, with the capacity to stand, walk, stoop, kneel, and lift/move weights ranging from 10 to 50 pounds.

Good hand-eye coordination and dexterity are essential, along with visual acuity for operating equipment and reviewing documentation.

The role also involves frequent sitting, reaching, talking, and listening.
