Armed Security Specialist Work Location:
Camp Navajo, Bellemont, AZ Salary: $ Per hour (DOE)
Grade: 15 This position will remain posted until filled. Resumes will be reviewed weekly. Position works variable shifts including evenings, nights, weekends, and holidays.
This Armed Security Specialist role is responsible for providing armed protective services to Camp Navajo facilities, ensuring safety against potential threats that may necessitate the use of force, including lethal force.
Engages in physical security operations related to access control and safeguarding critical assets.Facilitates the implementation of physical security measures and equipment necessary to secure Army National Guard resources and personnel as authorized by the Army Operations Division Protection branch (ARNG-ODP).
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage entry and exit to the facility through designated access control points (ACP) at the outer perimeter of the installation. This includes conducting random inspections of vehicles and personnel entering Department of Defense (DoD) owned or controlled facilities, as well as inspecting commercial deliveries and their occupants.
- Oversee the access of personnel and vehicles into restricted areas, maintaining logs in accordance with Army regulations. Conduct inspections for vehicles and rail cars delivering hazardous materials into restricted zones and provide security escorts for such materials.
- Maintain surveillance of areas containing arms, ammunition, and explosives (AA&E) through monitoring systems and physical inspections, responding to security alerts involving AA&E.
- Conduct security assessments of installation perimeters and sensitive areas to mitigate risks from criminal, terrorist, and hostile threats. Monitor electronic security systems, including Closed Circuit Television (CCTV) and Intrusion Detection Systems (IDS).
- Act as the first responder to incidents on the installation, ensuring the preservation of life and property while adhering to the National Incident Management System protocols. Provide emergency escorts and facilitate access for external emergency responders.
- Collaborate with foreign military and civilian personnel during inspections.
- Support the Morale, Welfare, and Recreation program at Camp Navajo.
Knowledge Required:
- Familiarity with Access Control Point operations, patrol protocols, and emergency response procedures.
- Ability to learn and apply search and seizure, arrest, and use of force protocols.
- Proficient in personal computer operations within a network environment.
- Knowledge of electronic security devices and equipment.
- Understanding of federal laws, regulations, and procedures relevant to law enforcement duties.
- Ability to comprehend various security alarm systems and appropriate responses.
- Proficiency in firearms and tactics for emergency situations.
- Familiarity with Army Regulations, Department of Emergency and Military Affairs directives, and other operational guidelines.
- Knowledge of Game and Fish regulations.
Skills Required:

- Strong command of the English language, with effective oral and written communication skills.
- Safe operation of weapons and security vehicles.
- Ability to perform all job duties safely and effectively, minimizing risk.

Abilities Required:
- Ability to apply appropriate levels of force as dictated by policy.
- Assume responsibilities in the absence of the Team Leader.
- Demonstrate physical capability to perform assigned duties.
- Carry and operate firearms and other weapons safely and proficiently.
- Safely operate vehicles in challenging terrains and conditions.
- Provide first aid when necessary.
- Maintain order among visitors and residents, preventing trespassing and property damage.
- Enforce security measures at special events.
- Carry weapons in accordance with state laws.
- Stay informed on Department of Emergency Management directives and security procedures.
- Complete necessary training for responding to hazardous materials and unexploded ordnance.
- Work variable shifts, including evenings, nights, weekends, and holidays.
The ideal candidate will possess an Arizona (DPS) Guard Card, experience in Military Police or law enforcement, and certifications in Physical Security and Anti-terrorism.
- Must hold a valid state-issued driver's license and maintain acceptable driving records.
- Candidates will undergo a criminal background investigation and must be eligible for a Tier 3 investigation for Secret clearance and Common Access Card (CAC).
- Must qualify on all assigned weapons, both lethal and non-lethal.
- Ability to obtain and maintain Arizona Armed and Unarmed Security Guard training certification within six months of hire.
