Job Description and Duties

The Deputy Director provides strategic leadership and oversight to California State Summer School for the Arts, ensuring the effective execution of policy and program development, budget, finance, and contracting. This role involves supervising two SSMI positions and maintaining 24/7 on-call duties during the summer session(s). The position reports to the Director of the agency.

Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement policy and program initiatives to support the mission of California State Summer School for the Arts
  • Provide budget and finance oversight, ensuring compliance with state budget regulations and policies
  • Supervise and manage SSMI positions, providing guidance and support to ensure successful program execution
  • Maintain 24/7 on-call duties during the summer session(s), ensuring prompt response to any issues or concerns
  • Develop and maintain cooperative working relationships with summer host site administration and program faculty
Requirements

This position requires a strong background in policy and program development, budget and finance management, and supervisory experience. The ideal candidate will possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with diverse stakeholders.
