Job Overview

This role is pivotal in guaranteeing the seamless operation of the banquet division, ensuring compliance with health regulations and local liquor laws. The Event Operations Manager employs leadership capabilities to enhance revenue, optimize profits, and uphold quality standards.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the banquet team to ensure operational efficiency and achievement of business objectives.
  • Participate in relevant meetings and communicate effectively with all team members to meet guest expectations.
  • Oversee banquet expenditures to maximize profitability for the hotel.
  • Manage labor effectively through strategic scheduling and adjustments based on operational demands.
  • Adhere to procurement guidelines and exercise sound business judgment.
  • Maintain company assets within budgetary constraints.
  • Review banquet agreements to ensure accurate billing.
  • Ensure guest satisfaction by meeting food and beverage service standards and responding promptly to guest needs.
  • Drive guest satisfaction and employee satisfaction results.
  • Address guest complaints courteously and focus on service recovery when necessary.
  • Work alongside staff to train and exemplify exceptional guest service standards.
  • Build strong relationships with clients to encourage repeat business.
  • Conduct regular inspections of banquet operations to uphold quality standards in food, beverage, and service.
  • Ensure a safe and clean work environment, adhering to all procedures for guest and employee incidents.
  • Responsible for recruiting, hiring, and developing team members.
  • Evaluate staff performance and provide coaching to meet established standards.
  • Inspire the team by setting clear goals, offering ongoing feedback, and recognizing achievements.
  • Administer disciplinary actions and make decisions regarding terminations.
  • Ensure comprehensive training for all associates and maintain training records.
  • Identify quality issues, assess training needs, and implement improvements.
  • Utilize available resources while adhering to training policies.
  • Ensure compliance with all company, brand, and department-specific training requirements.
  • Demonstrate effective self-management and workload organization.
  • Exhibit strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Foster a collaborative and professional work environment.
  • Attend all relevant departmental and hotel meetings to facilitate proper communication and planning.
  • Adhere to all standard operating procedures.

Required Competencies/Skills: A minimum of 3 years of experience in banquet or catering management is essential. Attention to detail, strong communication skills across all organizational levels, and problem-solving abilities are critical. The ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment is necessary.

Education: A college degree or equivalent experience is required. Certifications such as Serve Safe, TIPS, or CARE beverage service certification are required or must be obtained.

Physical Requirements: The role requires the ability to lift, push, and pull up to 50 pounds regularly and up to 100 pounds occasionally. Extended hours may be necessary based on business needs, involving physically demanding tasks such as walking, standing, carrying, and lifting throughout the shift.

Preferred Competencies/Skills: Preference will be given to candidates with over 5 years of experience in banquet or catering management or supervisory roles within a hotel of similar caliber. Experience in venues of comparable size and reputation with a focus on client satisfaction is also preferred.
