Position Overview:


This role spearheads the transformation and ongoing advancement of Compeer's software engineering division, establishing the capacity to foster innovation through cutting-edge technologies and enhancing product development capabilities.

Collaborates with leaders throughout Compeer to identify technological requirements and jointly formulate a technology strategy, which includes a shift towards cloud-based development.

Offers direction and vision to agile product teams regarding technologies, tools, and methodologies that contribute to solutions that are delivered promptly, are efficient, of high quality, user-friendly, secure, and maintainable.

This position provides a hybrid work option, allowing for up to 50% remote work, and is available for any Compeer office location.


Essential Functions:


Strategic Leadership & Execution * Advocates for the brand; exemplifies the vision, mission, and values of the organization.

Supports Compeer's strategic objectives.

* Formulates and implements a transformation strategy and roadmap to evolve Compeer's software engineering teams, cultivating the capabilities necessary to drive innovation through emerging technologies and creating a digitally proficient organization.

* Defines and cultivates an engineering culture and mindset across the team; fosters a high-trust environment where best practices such as 'blameless retrospectives' are effectively utilized.

* Guides the team in developing and enhancing Cloud-based software engineering and Product Development capabilities, including but not limited to CI/CD, Infrastructure as Code, Microservices Architectures, Containerization, Serverless Computing, Automated Testing, API management, and environment consistency.

* Fosters innovation, experimentation, and rapid-development capabilities within the development team and in collaboration with Compeer's business units and functions.

* Partners across the BT Team, including with DevOps, Enterprise Architecture, and Security & Risk Management, to align on strategy and expedite the development and deployment of digital products.

* Promotes continuous improvement across software engineering capabilities by staying informed of industry best practices and identifying and executing improvement initiatives that enhance team capabilities and value delivery.

Team Leadership * Cultivates and promotes a positive culture and work environment that leverages the talents and abilities of team members in achieving the objectives of the Development and Delivery team.

* Establishes and nurtures a values and trust-based culture of high performance and execution across the Technology Development & Delivery team.

* Selects, develops, and engages exceptional talent to create and sustain a high-performing team; ensures a talent pipeline to meet the future needs of the team.

Development & Delivery Process Management * Oversees processes for the delivery of technical solutions (building, testing, supporting, and enforcing processes).

* Establishes organization-wide technical standards, policies, and procedures regarding solution development to ensure a consistent approach and maintain controls throughout the application development process.


Minimum Qualifications & Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Bachelor's degree in information systems, computer science, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to perform the essential functions of the job.
  • Must be authorized to work for any employer in the US. Compeer is unable to sponsor or take over sponsorship of an employment visa at this time. 10 years of information technology experience, preferably in a financial institution. 5 years of leadership and management experience preferred.
  • Exceptional people leadership and talent development skills, including the ability to select, evaluate, engage, motivate, mentor, train, delegate, reward, and lead team members.
  • High learning agility with demonstrated ability to apply past experiences and learnings successfully in new situations.
  • Demonstrated ability to leverage values-based leadership to shape and influence culture; able to lead in a hybrid work environment.
  • Proven experience leading technology transformation and change initiatives.
  • Proven ability to develop high-impact technology strategy.
  • High degree of curiosity across leadership and technology disciplines.
  • Skill in developing and maintaining interpersonal relationships.
  • Strong problem-solving, decision-making, and organizational skills.
  • Strong analytical skills with attention to detail.
  • Flexible and adaptable to changing situations.
  • Expert-level knowledge of product development and agile solution delivery principles.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively with other teams to achieve goals and represent the business.
  • Demonstrated success in the implementation of large, complex programs.
  • Valid driver's license.
