The Director plays a crucial role in understanding these evolving factors and orchestrating a strategic response within their area of responsibility. This position collaborates with various stakeholders to further Gundersen Health System's mission and objectives, which include: 1) delivering superior quality and safety from the perspective of patients and caregivers; 2) providing exceptional service to patients and colleagues; 3) attracting, nurturing, and retaining a skilled and engaged workforce; 4) ensuring the affordability of care; and 5) fostering programmatic growth. The Director translates organizational strategy into actionable commitments and achievements within their domain.
Key Responsibilities
The Director is specifically accountable for:
1. Organizational Strategy and Execution - Analyzing market trends and their implications for the area of responsibility, contributing to strategic and operational planning, and ensuring staff alignment and commitment.
2. Financial Oversight - Utilizing established processes to maintain accountability for operational effectiveness and resource management.
3. Talent Management - Employing effective methods to recruit, align, engage, develop, and retain a team of highly skilled professionals.
4. Service Excellence and Quality Assurance - Ensuring the seamless delivery of high-quality patient care and safety, along with outstanding patient experience and customer service.
5. Leadership and Collaboration - Providing direction and achieving objectives by integrating processes and initiatives while fostering a collaborative environment.

Decision-Making Authority
The Director possesses the authority to establish and implement the vision, objectives, and strategies for their area, ensuring alignment with the organization's mission and goals. This individual is responsible for advocating necessary changes in processes and systems to optimize healthcare delivery while managing clinical, staff, and policy issues within defined organizational, financial, and regulatory parameters.
Qualifications
Education:
Required: Bachelor's degree in computer science, cybersecurity, information technology, or a related field. Candidates with an Associate's degree must complete their bachelor's degree within three years of hire.
Desired: Bachelor's degree in cybersecurity or information technology.
Experience:
Required: Minimum of five years of relevant experience in an Information Technology field, with at least three years in information security systems.
Desired: Familiarity with operating system fundamentals, networking, security technologies (firewall, intrusion detection), and experience with the NIST Cybersecurity framework, HIPAA, HiTrust, and other regulations governing ePHI.
Certifications:
Desired: Information security certifications such as CISSP are highly desirable.
Work Environment:
Typically, this role involves standard office conditions with minimal exposure to adverse environmental factors.
