Position Overview

The Clinical Respiratory Care Coordinator is responsible for acting as a clinical authority in the provision and oversight of comprehensive respiratory care. This role involves utilizing research and evidence-based practices as necessary, delivering expert care to patients across various services and specialties, including those with complex diagnoses.

Minimum Qualifications

Education:
Graduate of an accredited School of Respiratory Care is required; a Bachelor's degree is preferred.

Licenses/Certifications:
Current State of Texas RCP license
Registered Respiratory Therapist
Certified in Basic Life Support
Additional specialty certification from the NBRC is preferred.

Experience / Knowledge / Skills:
Minimum of five (5) years of experience in the field
Five (5) years of critical care experience is preferred
Effective oral and written communication skills.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Plans, coordinates, and directs all activities among the interdisciplinary team to enhance departmental throughput and achieve positive patient outcomes.
  2. Collaborates with nursing and ancillary departments, such as laboratory and radiology, to ensure timely turnaround times.
  3. Acts as a liaison for departmental staff, medical personnel, patients, and their families; addresses any patient care concerns, issues, or complaints; conducts daily leadership rounding on the assigned unit.
  4. Utilizes critical thinking and sound clinical judgment to autonomously resolve issues; escalates significant occurrences or delays to department leaders as appropriate.
  5. Serves as a mentor and coach to assigned staff, providing input for their annual performance evaluations.
  6. Participates in ongoing evaluation of programs, process improvements, and desired client-centered outcomes through a systematic, interdisciplinary approach.
  7. Considers the diverse needs of each patient throughout their care continuum, ensuring the highest level of service according to established standards and optimizing the patient experience.
  8. Ensures safe care for patients, staff, and visitors; adheres to all organizational policies, procedures, and standards within budgetary constraints, including time management, supply management, productivity, and quality of service.
  9. Promotes individual professional growth and development by fulfilling requirements for mandatory and continuing education and skills competency; supports department-based goals that contribute to the organization’s success; serves as a preceptor, mentor, and resource for less experienced staff.
  10. Demonstrates a commitment to caring for every member of our community by creating compassionate and personalized experiences. Models the organization’s service standards by providing safe, caring, personalized, and efficient experiences to patients and colleagues.
