Job Summary:

Houston Methodist is a leading health system and academic medical center seeking a skilled Occupational Health Nurse to provide expert, integrated, cost-effective, quality patient care through the coordination of clinical care for occupational health clients and programs.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide expert nursing care to employees, volunteers, and contract personnel, ensuring a safe and healthy work environment.
  • Conduct initial management, review, and monitoring of occupational injuries and illnesses, adhering to industry standards and regulations.
  • Collaborate with Infection Control, physicians, and other stakeholders in the investigation, reporting, and follow-through of employees potentially exposed to infectious or communicable diseases.
  • Design, gather, review, and utilize qualitative and quantitative data analyses to develop educational material to promote patient safety and risk reduction.
  • Coordinate and participate in training along with other key stakeholders regarding safe patient handling and mobility (SPHM) principles.
Essential Functions:
  • Perform pre-employment health assessments on all new post-offer candidates, allied health professionals, and other contract, agency, volunteers, and students.
  • Coordinate and perform activities related to on-going employee health management, including the annual Tuberculosis (TB) and Influenza program for employees, allied health staff, volunteers, and contract personnel.
  • Provide nursing care, including administration of injections, dispensing non-prescription medications, vital signs, wound care, and work status reports.
  • Provide first aid treatment as needed and appropriate.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree or higher from an accredited school of Nursing OR Associate's degree from an accredited school of Nursing with an additional two years of nursing experience.
  • Three years of clinical nursing experience.
  • Occupational health nursing experience preferred.
  • RN-Temp - Registered Nurse - Temporary State Licensure within 60 days AND COHN - Certified Occupational Health Nurse (ABOHN) OR COHN/S - Certified Occupational Health Nurse Specialist (ABOHN).
