Since its inception in 2011, Harlem Lacrosse has grown significantly, currently operating in multiple cities and schools, providing numerous programs that enhance both athletic and academic performance.


Role Overview:

The Program Director will play a crucial role in embedding within partner schools to lead comprehensive academic, athletic, and enrichment initiatives for middle and high school students. This position is year-round and full-time.


Key Responsibilities:
  • Program Development and Implementation (70%):
    • Identify and recruit students who would benefit from the program.
    • Foster a positive team culture and build strong relationships with students.
    • Establish clear objectives and expectations for participants.
    • Create outcome-oriented program plans that encompass academic, athletic, and enrichment activities.
    • Coordinate clinics, games, and events in collaboration with partner organizations.
    • Assist students in navigating the college or career application processes.
    • Monitor and evaluate students' progress in academics, sports, and personal development.
  • Community and School Relations (20%):
    • Maintain a visible presence in partner schools and develop relationships with faculty and staff.
    • Engage in regular communication with parents and guardians.
    • Build connections with partner organizations and volunteers.
    • Collaborate with community groups to leverage shared resources.
  • Organizational Support (10%):

    Exhibit organizational stewardship by optimizing resources, adhering to policies, and contributing to various organizational initiatives.


Qualifications:
  • In-depth knowledge of lacrosse rules and strategies.
  • Experience in mentoring or coaching youth.
  • Demonstrated success in setting and achieving goals.
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to build relationships.
  • Sound judgment and capacity to work independently.
  • Comfortable discussing topics related to diversity, equity, and inclusion.
  • Willingness to engage in discussions surrounding racial equity.
  • Flexibility in work hours and travel.
  • Proficiency in Spanish is advantageous.
