Major Gift Officer

Overview
Covenant House is a leading organization in the field of youth homelessness, human trafficking, and exploitation. We are seeking a highly skilled Major Gift Officer to join our team.
As a Major Gift Officer, you will be responsible for developing and managing a portfolio of key supporters who give individually, participate in our Peer-to-Peer (P2P) programs, and/or facilitate giving through their companies.
You will employ a practice of moves management, developing and implementing strategies for the identification, qualification, cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship of supporters and helping your colleagues as needed in the cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship of supporters in their portfolios.
Key Responsibilities:
- Plan and execute moves management plans to acquire, retain, and upgrade supporters
- Identify and qualify new prospective supporters and build relationships with them
- Cultivate and solicit $10,000+ contributions and planned gifts
- Provide meaningful stewardship to inspire and motivate increased giving over time
- Participate in cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship activities with colleagues to support fundraising from supporters in their portfolios
- Meet or exceed individual targets for portfolio engagement
- Track and analyze portfolio records, input contacts and interactions into the donor database, and utilize supporter data to assess personal progress and performance
- Attend seminars and trainings to build your skillset as a fundraiser and leader
- Collaborate with colleagues and perform other duties as assigned by leadership or requested by fellow members of the Covenant House community
Requirements:
- At least two to five years of major giving, sales, or other similar experience
- Outstanding communication and persuasion skills and the ability to excite anyone about our mission
- Team-oriented with a strong work ethic essential to meet the demands of a community that strives for excellence
- Highly developed interpersonal skills with the presence and personal style to represent the organization to diverse constituents
- Available to work a flexible schedule, including weekends, evenings, and overnight as needed
- Proficient in the usage of MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint and experience with donor data software preferred
- A demonstrated passion for our mission that invigorates and excites everyone with whom you share it and a demonstrated commitment to human service and social change
- Valid US Driver's License preferred
Travel Requirements:
The Major Gift Officer will be required to travel regularly throughout the United States up to 25% of the time.
