JOB SUMMARY:
The Registered Nurse independently formulates and delivers comprehensive nursing care for patients within a designated demographic, adhering to established medical and nursing care protocols.
This role involves the provision, management, and coordination of care through telecommunication technologies in the realm of Ambulatory Care Nursing.Offers nursing services to patients and their families, aligning with the responsibilities of an RN as outlined by the North Carolina Board of Nursing.
Leads and supervises other team members while collaborating with a multidisciplinary team to ensure age-appropriate and developmentally suitable care, in accordance with nursing standards.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
Must possess a degree from an accredited School of Nursing with a minimum of two years of experience in acute care settings. A Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) is preferred. Experience in acute care within the last decade is advantageous. Prior exposure to Telephone Triage and familiarity with Health Insurance and Managed Care principles is preferred.
LICENSURE AND CERTIFICATION:
A current Registered Nurse (RN) license in North Carolina and Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) certification are mandatory.
Licensure in other states may be required as per legal or contractual obligations.Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS), Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS), or Pediatric Emergency Assessment, Recognition and Stabilization (PEARS) certifications may be necessary within one year in specific areas.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
1.
Delivers patient-centered care, acting as a partner and advisor, assisting patients and families in effectively managing their healthcare while respecting their cultural values, individual needs, health objectives, and treatment preferences.
2.Utilizes critical thinking and clinical judgment to facilitate timely care and treatment, particularly when patients present with complex or potentially life-threatening conditions assessed through telecommunication methods.
3. Ensures appropriate scheduling and follow-up on test results for healthcare providers. Employs active listening skills, established protocols, and evidence-based practices to explain test results and medications to patients. 4.Applies the American Nurses Association Code of Ethics for Nurses to professional responsibilities and the care of patients.
5. Engages in personal professional development by maintaining necessary competencies, identifying educational needs, and seeking relevant training opportunities. Demonstrates professionalism through active participation in a professional practice model, including shared governance, adherence to care standards, peer review, and professional growth promoting leadership and clinical excellence. 6.Prioritizes patient safety and quality of nursing care by implementing appropriate nursing interventions, such as identifying patient needs, conducting health education, advocating for patients, coordinating nursing and health services, assisting patients in navigating the healthcare system, and evaluating patient outcomes.
7. Maintains knowledge of care teams for effective patient care coordination, self-management, population management, and communication skills. 8. Adapts communication style to accommodate the diverse personal, professional, cultural, and socio-economic backgrounds of patients. 9. Exhibits exceptional assessment, critical thinking, and customer service abilities. 10. Performs additional duties as required.SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS:
Ability to assess the nursing needs of patients with acute and chronic conditions through technological methods. Ability to independently seek resources and collaborate effectively. Ability to establish and maintain productive working relationships. Ability to communicate clearly with patients, families, visitors, healthcare teams, physicians, and leadership. Ability to educate patients and families in line with the nursing care plan. Proficient in computer usage and learning new software applications. Ability to document and convey relevant information using both digital and traditional documentation tools.

Typical clinic setting.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Activity levels include standing, walking, sitting, bending, reaching, and manual dexterity. Lifting, carrying, pushing, or pulling may involve weights up to 100 lbs.
