Job Overview

As a LPN in our ambulatory care practice, you will play a vital role in providing high-quality nursing services to our patients. Working closely with our care team, you will be responsible for delivering exceptional patient care, improving efficiency, and enhancing the overall patient experience.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide nursing services in an office setting, working as part of a care team to improve quality requirements, increase throughput, and enhance patient experience.
  • Document patient care and interactions accurately and appropriately in the patient medical record.
  • Participate in telephone triage, obtaining clinically relevant data and symptoms from patients, and advising and instructing patients according to established protocols and provider orders.
  • Ensure all ordered laboratory and diagnostic tests are tracked and logged, and present test results to the provider.
  • Pre-visit planning with the provider and care team, including medication administration and vital sign checks.
  • Assist with reviewing medication history and updating medication lists, and may assist with health maintenance requirements.
  • Assist providers during procedures and examinations, and perform instrument and room clean-up.
  • Utilize standard precautions, complying with CHS policies, OSHA standards, CLIA regulations, and The Joint Commission standards.
  • Report patient conditions and reactions to the provider following procedures, medication administration, or treatments.
  • Assist with patient inquiries for prescription refills, appointment scheduling, and referral authorization as needed.
  • Participate in electronic documentation of care at the direction of the provider, and may enter orders in EMR per provider order.
  • Complete CLIA-approved waived laboratory tests and practice-specific diagnostic testing, including Point of Care testing for Hemoglobin A1C and other testing as applicable.
  • Perform venipuncture, and may be required to assist with collection of specimens of body fluids such as urine and blood for laboratory testing.
  • Provide patients with Depart Summary and review at the end of the visit.
  • Responsible for all vaccine and pharmaceutical orders, including North Carolina Immunization Registry and South Carolina Department of Health and Environmental Control regulations, and monitoring inventory levels of clinical supplies.
Requirements

Must be a Licensed Practical Nurse with a current license to practice in NC or SC, and a graduate of an Accredited School of practical nursing. Previous medical office experience is preferred, and current American Heart Association (AHA) BLS certification is required.

Physical Requirements

Work consistently requires walking, standing, sitting, lifting, reaching, bending, stooping, pushing, and pulling. Must be able to lift and support the weight of 35 pounds in handling patients, medical equipment, and supplies. Possible exposure to communicable diseases. Must speak, read, and write Basic English fluently. Intact senses of sight, hearing, smell, and touch. Manual finger dexterity.
