Clinical Nurse Specialist

JOB SUMMARY:
The Registered Nurse is responsible for independently designing and delivering professional nursing care tailored to a specific patient demographic, adhering to established medical and nursing protocols.
This role involves managing and coordinating patient care through telecommunication technologies within the scope of Ambulatory Care Nursing.Nursing services are provided to patients and their families, in alignment with the RN scope as defined by the relevant nursing board.
The nurse will lead and direct other team members while collaborating with a multidisciplinary team to ensure age-appropriate and developmentally suitable care, in accordance with nursing standards.
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:
Graduation from an accredited nursing program with a minimum of two years of acute care experience is required. A Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) is preferred. Experience in acute care within the last decade is also preferred. Familiarity with Telephone Triage and concepts related to Health Insurance and Managed Care is advantageous.
LICENSURE, CERTIFICATION, and/or REGISTRATION:
A current Registered Nurse (RN) license in the relevant state and Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) certification are mandatory. Additional licensure may be required as per legal or contractual obligations.
Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS), Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS), or Pediatric Emergency Assessment, Recognition and Stabilization (PEARS) certifications may be necessary within a year in specific areas.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
1.
Deliver patient-centered care, acting as a partner and advisor to assist patients and families in effectively managing their healthcare, while respecting their cultural values, individual needs, health goals, and treatment preferences.
2.Utilize critical thinking and clinical judgment to expedite appropriate care and treatment, particularly for patients presenting complex or potentially life-threatening conditions, assessed through telecommunication methods.
3. Ensure timely scheduling and follow-up on test results for healthcare providers, employing active listening skills and evidence-based practices in communicating results and medication information to patients. 4.Adhere to the American Nurses Association Code of Ethics in all professional obligations and in the care of patients.
5. Engage in ongoing professional development by maintaining competencies, identifying learning needs, and pursuing educational opportunities. Demonstrate professionalism through active participation in a practice model, including shared governance and adherence to care standards.Commit to lifelong learning that enhances clinical and organizational knowledge.
6.Prioritize patient safety and quality of care by implementing appropriate nursing interventions, such as identifying patient needs, conducting health education, advocating for patients, coordinating services, and evaluating outcomes.
7. Maintain awareness of care teams to ensure effective coordination of patient care and communication. 8. Adapt communication styles to meet the diverse needs of patients from various backgrounds. 9. Exhibit strong assessment, critical thinking, and customer service skills. 10.Perform additional duties as required in relation to the position.
SKILLS/QUALIFICATIONS:
Ability to assess the nursing needs of patients through technological methods. Ability to independently seek resources and collaborate effectively. Ability to establish and maintain productive working relationships. Ability to communicate clearly with patients, families, and healthcare teams. Ability to educate patients and families in line with nursing care plans. Proficiency in computer usage and adaptability to new software. Ability to document and convey relevant information accurately.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Activities include standing, walking, sitting, bending, reaching, dexterity in hands, talking, hearing, and seeing. Lifting, carrying, pushing, or pulling may involve a maximum of 20 lbs., 50 lbs., or 100 lbs. as necessary.
