Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Payroll Specialist to join our team at Strategic Staffing Solutions. As a Payroll Specialist, you will be responsible for performing a variety of payroll-related tasks, including online edits and corrections, special check requests, and internal adjustments.

Key Responsibilities
  • Payroll Processing: Perform online edits and corrections to the payroll system, PeopleSoft, and calculate special check requests and audits.
  • Internal Adjustments: Process internal adjustments for employees, analyzing past payroll information and calculating the proper amount of adjustment.
  • Timekeeping and Scheduling: Review and validate Kronos schedules and timekeeping duties, following payroll guidelines, policies, and procedures.
  • Employee Inquiries: Answer complex questions via phone inquiries from employees, timekeepers, management personnel, and Human Resources.
  • Garnishment and Deductions: Process garnishment checks, mail checks with legal statements, and process deductions from employee paychecks.
  • Financial Reconciliation: Calculate incorrect payments and process necessary adjustments to recover overpayment amounts from employees' paychecks.
Requirements
  • Education: High School diploma or G.E.D. equivalent required; Payroll certification (FPC or CPP) preferred.
  • Experience: At least two (2) years of related payroll experience required; previous hospital experience is highly desirable.
  • Skills: Extensive knowledge of PeopleSoft and Kronos systems, payroll and timekeeping; excellent analytical skills, problem-solving, and judgment skills with high attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Communication: Tact and discretion required in regard to security of PeopleSoft and Kronos, as well as exposure to confidential and sensitive information.
