Responsibilities:
A Day in the Life of an Accounting Specialist:


As an Accounting Specialist at Liberty Military Housing, you will oversee and manage the daily accounting operations of a multi-family residential community.

Your responsibilities encompass various financial tasks, vendor and customer service follow-ups, and other administrative duties.

Your role demands precision, effective customer service, and the ability to work efficiently to fulfill our mission of delivering exemplary service in line with Liberty Military Housing's quality customer satisfaction standards.


Your Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:


Directly managing the financial activities of the community, including bill payments, creation and receipt of purchase orders, change orders, processing accounts payable and receivable, handling delinquencies, collections, and invoicing.

Assisting the District Manager with community budgeting and achieving operational and financial objectives.

Responsible for collecting outstanding rents, preparing and sending delinquency and balance due notifications to residents.

Maintaining precise records of all financial transactions; adjusting ledgers, preparing/reconciling delinquency reports, verifying/adjusting BAH, and submitting write-off packages.

Assisting in the preparation of monthly financial accounting reports and explaining budget variances.

Assisting with the auditing and processing of move-outs, transfers, etc.; ensuring accuracy and timely data entry.

Communicating with vendors/contractors regarding billing and invoicing.

Participating in outreach marketing activities (e.g., market surveys, competitor analysis) regularly to attract prospective residents.

Assisting incoming residents/potential residents with housing and community information.

Supporting other office staff with duties and customer relations.

Performing other general office tasks, such as phones, filing, special projects, and assignments, as needed.


May participate in property inspections (grounds, common areas, parking lots, community rooms, make-readies, quality control, etc.) to ensure the community is maintained according to LMH's quality standards.

Participating in and attending various departmental or regional meetings, resident functions, seminars, training, and work-related events.

Qualifications:

What You Need for Success:
This position requires 1 or more years of bookkeeping or accounting experience.

Proficiency in personal computer skills, including keyboarding, Internet searching, email correspondence, mathematics, and Microsoft Office applications, such as Word and Excel, along with other software applications preferred (e.g., Yardi, Payscan).


Effective communication and interaction with the management team, military partners, co-workers, vendors, or residents; sufficient to exchange or convey information and to give and receive work direction.

Strong customer service and interpersonal skills.

Ability to multitask, prioritize, and complete assigned duties to ensure operational objectives are met.

Must maintain a positive and professional demeanor in all interactions, under all circumstances.

Ability to operate a motor vehicle (valid license required).

Must be available to work a flexible schedule, including weekends, off-hours, and emergencies as required.

Ability to travel to other regional locations for work, training, meetings, and other work-related activities.
