Role Summary
The Senior Project Engineer will oversee a small project or a segment of a larger, more intricate project with guidance.

This role will implement the organization's processes and tools to manage various aspects of project management, administration, and field execution.

Autonomy and Decision Making:
Responsible for making decisions within the assigned area of responsibility, providing recommendations to supervisors, and referring exceptions as necessary.

Career Path:
Potential advancement to Project Manager 1.

Key Responsibilities

  • Commit to the company's safety and quality standards by fostering an injury-free environment through personal actions and mentoring.
  • Coordinate with project quality assurance and quality control planning to ensure quality for assigned tasks.
  • Engage in estimating and change management processes, including quantity take-offs and reviewing subcontractor proposals.
  • Make informed decisions regarding the selection of subcontractors and vendors.
  • Manage approved purchase orders to ensure timely delivery of materials for project completion.
  • Collaborate on-site with the project team to monitor crew size, hours, materials, and equipment.
  • Participate in activities such as punch lists, inspections, and quality reviews, preparing necessary documentation.
  • Maintain updated drawings and specifications.
  • Organize and take part in various project meetings, preparing and distributing required documentation.
  • Inspect work and prepare a variety of reports to support project progress.
  • Conduct job site observations with project leadership.
  • Create procurement logs based on project schedules and specifications.
  • Provide updates and reports to the project team to assist in scheduling.
  • May oversee aspects of project closeout.
  • Ensure compliance with company best practices and construction techniques.
  • Build relationships and enhance communication skills with tradespeople and project team members.
  • Demonstrate understanding of various functions and support roles within the organization.
  • Collaborate effectively in a project setting.
  • Implement Lean practices in daily activities.
  • Identify and integrate self-perform opportunities into the project.

Additional Responsibilities

  • Lead the preparation of estimates for base projects, self-perform work, and change requests.
  • Support project administration using company technologies.
  • Manage the submittal process to align with project schedules.
  • Prepare and oversee project schedules, outlining work plans and sequences.
  • Analyze and report on production statistics for key project components.
  • Manage project risks related to subcontractor performance and resource allocation.
  • Coordinate various meetings, including pre-planning and monthly project reviews.
  • Review and approve subcontractor and vendor pay applications.
  • Initiate discussions about potential issues to foster a collaborative problem-solving environment.
  • Lead the project closeout process, including managing punch lists and scheduling inspections.
  • Provide training and mentorship to junior team members.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in construction management, engineering, or a related field.
  • 3+ years of construction experience.
  • Ability to perform work accurately and in a timely manner.
  • Intermediate communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Proficiency in MS Office and project management software.
  • Knowledge of construction management fundamentals and project processes.
  • Ability to build relationships and collaborate effectively within a team.

Working Environment
Must be able to lift up to 25 pounds and may require travel. Willingness to work non-traditional hours is necessary.
