Position Overview: Senior Hydraulics Engineer for Transportation

Are you prepared to take the lead in our Transportation Business Group? We are in search of a skilled professional to fill this pivotal role, providing direction in project execution and fostering business development. Your duties will encompass strategic planning, ensuring project profitability, upholding quality standards, and promoting staff growth. The Transportation Business Group engages in a variety of market sectors, including aviation, transit, and highway initiatives.

In this capacity, you will be instrumental in recruitment, training, and management tasks. Additionally, you will represent HDR in professional networks to bolster our industry presence. Collaborating with client managers and marketing teams, you will identify new opportunities and projects, enhancing our service offerings and expanding our market reach.

Furthermore, you will contribute to stormwater management strategies and infrastructure designs, conducting comprehensive analyses, developing design solutions, and preparing critical project documentation. Working closely with your team, you will also review drainage assignments and devise innovative solutions.

Qualifications

Essential Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in Civil, Environmental, Transportation, or Structural Engineering, or a related discipline
  • Master's degree in Civil Engineering or a related field is preferred
  • Professional Engineer (PE) certification is required
  • A minimum of 10 years of experience in hydraulics engineering and water resource projects
  • Proven project leadership capabilities
  • Strong skills in leadership, planning, and team management
  • Experience collaborating with Department of Transportation (DOT) and municipal clients
  • Expertise in hydrologic and hydraulic analyses, drainage design, and project specifications
  • Background in Design-Build projects is beneficial
  • Familiarity with design software such as AutoCAD, Civil 3D, and MicroStation
  • Knowledge of HEC-RAS and SRH-2D river modeling is preferred
  • Experience with ArcGIS Pro and HEC-HMS is an advantage
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills
