Overview:
Barge Design Solutions is actively seeking a qualified Lead Structural Engineer (PE) to join our dynamic team. This role may be based in various locations across the Southeastern United States, with options for remote work.
Key Responsibilities:
The successful candidate will take on the role of the primary technical structural authority and engineer of record for diverse projects, including:
- Industrial
- Commercial
- Federal
- Water/Wastewater
- Environmental
Specific duties include:
- Leading BIM technicians and Structural Designers in the creation of project plans.
- Conducting technical planning that encompasses analysis, design creation, report writing, and specification development.
- Providing expert guidance on project scope, budget management, and scheduling.
- Supporting project management by offering technical leadership on complex assignments, often managing multiple significant projects simultaneously.
- Reviewing the work of fellow engineers and designers to ensure compliance and quality assurance.
- Conducting site inspections to oversee project progress.
- Completing tasks within established budgets and timelines while collaborating with multidisciplinary design teams.
- Mentoring early-career engineers for professional development.
- Engaging with clients and participating in meetings to foster communication.
- Staying updated on industry developments to recommend program or application enhancements.
- Performing additional duties as required.
Qualifications:
Applicants should possess the following:
- A Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering with a specialization in Structures from an ABET accredited institution.
- A Master's degree is highly preferred.
- Professional Engineer (PE) registration; Structural Engineer (SE) registration is strongly preferred.
- A minimum of 8 years of relevant engineering experience, with 10+ years preferred.
- Strong analytical skills to interpret job-related manuals and documents.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
- Familiarity with Autodesk Revit is advantageous.
- Experience with water/wastewater structures is a plus.
- Expertise in designing steel, concrete, masonry, and foundation structures.
