Job Summary:


The Service Line Finance Director, Business Services, is a senior member focused on the UNC Health service lines and their performance.

This role acts as the primary business advisor to the service line teams, providing financial and operational reporting, and collaborating with physician and executive leadership to enhance data usage and develop new analytics tools.

The Service Line Finance Director is responsible for driving growth in assigned service lines across the system using experience with Decision Support tools and communicating critical information to various audiences.


Key Responsibilities:
  • Serves as the primary business advisor to service line teams.
  • Provides financial and operational reporting, including volumes reporting, revenue, payer mix and pricing, service costing, provider productivity reporting, business cases, and valuations/ROIs.
  • Collaborates with physician and executive leadership to ensure accurate data usage and recommend enhancements based on industry trends.
  • Develops new analytics and tools to support service line operations.
  • Drives growth in assigned service lines across the system.
  • Responsible for combining physician and hospital operational and margin data into comprehensive enterprise service line reporting in support of senior leadership decision making.
  • Communicate and present information to administrative and physician leadership
  • Interprets management financial information with significant institutional impact.
  • Synthesizes inputs from various subject matter experts to formulate solutions and implement changes for complex issues.
  • Stays abreast of emerging issues and risks, planning accordingly.
  • Interacts with leadership across the system regarding service line development and reporting.

Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree required. Master's preferred.
  • Seven (7) years of related experience, with at least five (5) years of management experience.
  • Solid knowledge of finance, managerial accounting, costing, productivity, and KPI reporting.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft applications including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
  • Ability to establish a productive team-based work environment and collaborate effectively across multiple sites and functions.
  • Demonstrable communication and presentation skills
  • Ability to lead or direct multiple complex projects and activities in an ambiguous environment.
  • Ability to handle ambiguous situations productively and professionally, leading others through such situations successfully.
  • Ability to partner in the development and achievement of goals, vision, and overall direction of the strategic finance functions.
  • Ability to apply broad knowledge to new circumstances to add value and perspective.
