Senior Accounting Specialist

Your Role - A Day in the Life:
In this position, you will play a crucial role in our financial operations for several portfolio businesses, with a significant emphasis on our scalable business, UniFide CST. You will ensure precision and effectiveness in all accounting functions.
Key Responsibilities:
Daily and Weekly Accounting Duties:
- Execute daily and weekly accounting tasks for various portfolio businesses.
- Complete customer invoicing and manage accounts receivable (AR) reporting.
- Oversee customer collections and maintain accurate AR records.
- Post daily banking transactions, including EFT drafts and bank uploads.
- Handle daily accounts payable (AP) responsibilities and credit card postings.
- Analyze and reconcile daily and monthly account activities.
- Maintain precise and current accounting records.
- Conduct vendor, supplier, and carrier account reconciliations.
- Prepare adjustment entries and reconcile general ledger accounts monthly.
- Establish and maintain vendor and customer accounts.
- Manage fixed asset and depreciation schedules.
- Assist in the month-end and year-end closing activities.
- Record recurring and one-time month-end journal entries.
- Complete bank reconciliations and post inventory adjustments.
- Review and prepare 1099 tax documents.
- Ensure timely and accurate financial statement reporting.
- Prepare government reports, including DOT registrations and renewals.
- Stay informed about sales and use tax reporting requirements.
- Prepare and review tax returns and reconcile tax-related accounts.
- Collaborate on special projects as directed by the Accounting Manager, Controller, or CFO.
- Work with the accounting team to identify and implement process improvements for enhanced efficiency.
- Associate's degree in Accounting or a related field with a minimum of 2+ years of relevant experience.
- A detail-oriented and proactive professional with a solid accounting background.
- Strong analytical abilities to reconcile accounts and maintain accurate records.
- A collaborative team player with excellent communication skills.
- Experience with month-end and year-end closing processes.
- Knowledge of sales and use tax reporting, excise taxes, and general compliance is preferred.
