Job Overview

Turner & Townsend is seeking an experienced Senior Project Manager to support our clients in the life sciences sector. As a key member of our project team, you will be responsible for leading complex projects from inception to completion, ensuring timely delivery, and exceeding client expectations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and manage project strategic plans and program initiatives to meet client goals and needs.
  • Lead the design, engineering, and construction team through planning, design, preconstruction, and construction activities.
  • Initiate and lead the procurement of design, construction, and consultant services.
  • Serve as liaison between client and design/construction professionals, fostering productive relationships.
  • Coordinate with vendors to design and deliver equipment, overseeing the equipment receiving process and installation.
  • Oversee and review the development of architectural and engineering construction drawings and bid documents.
  • Lead value engineering sessions to reduce costs.
  • Plan and manage deliverables, including design, construction, automation, commissioning, and operational readiness.
  • Provide analysis of budgets and schedules, ensuring alignment with financial objectives and project schedules.
  • Assist clients in scheduling, coordination, and management of all Owner-direct vendors and consultants.
  • Meet with clients, city officials, architects, engineers, contractors, and consultants to present project status and anticipate issues.
  • Lead all aspects of the project, including budget, schedule, operational needs, procedures, client standards, QA/QC program requirements, reporting, and individual roles and responsibilities.
  • Coordinate with vendors to design and deliver equipment, overseeing the equipment receiving process and installation.
  • Proactively identify and manage risks and issues, implementing mitigation strategies and escalating critical concerns to stakeholders as necessary.
  • Attend owner, architect, and contractor meetings, taking notes and managing follow-up action items.
  • Negotiate, resolve, and close out outstanding change orders, quality issues, or disputes.
  • Identify and ensure that the appropriate parties are aware of quality, safety, health, and environment issues.
  • Oversee development and execution of startup/commissioning protocols as appropriate.
  • Establish and oversee project close-out documentation and processes through to completion.
  • Demonstrate extensive knowledge and understanding of project controls, project management, construction documentation, and sequencing.
  • Act as a Subject Matter Expert, including project management practices and technical focus areas.
  • Identify opportunities to improve Project Management process, procedures, templates, and products, referring ideas to the appropriate line manager.
  • Conduct background research, data collection, and benchmarking, and present findings to team members.
  • Knowledge management - ensure that key information and learning generated from each commission is inputted into internal databases and shared.

  • Ability to review and interpret design documents and engineering documents.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and other relevant software platforms.

Preferred Education:

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering discipline or equivalent.

Recommended Experience:

  • 7+ years of engineering, operations experience, or project management in construction/laboratory environments.
  • Manufacturing experience is strongly preferred.
  • Direct experience creating, managing, and analyzing schedules in P6 or MS Project is preferred.
  • US experience is preferred.
