Senior Supervisory Engineer

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Supervisory Engineer to join our team at the Department of the Navy. As a Senior Supervisory Engineer, you will be responsible for leading and coordinating the work of a multi-disciplined engineering or scientific group, modifying work plans as necessary to achieve the agreed level of service to the customer, and recommending and justifying budgets for the branch.

• Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: 1) Providing expert engineering advice to successfully accomplish and manage engineering projects and provide staff supervision of various engineering matters concerned with expeditionary engineering projects/programs, Research Development Testing & Evaluation (RDT&E) and Test & Evaluation (T&E) projects; 2) Evaluating and advising on the development and implementation of Joint and DoD engineering programs having significant impact on future equipment and doctrine; 3) Modifying standard practices, applying innovative and inventive skills, and adapting equipment or techniques to solve a variety of engineering, design, construction, maintenance, installation, and/or system operation problems; 4) Supporting an engineering management program by demonstrating knowledge and experience in DoD planning, programming, budgeting, execution, and financial processes; and 5) Contracting principles and quality assurance principles as they relate to assigned specialty area projects and services.

• Applicants must meet the following basic education requirements of the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualifications Standards Manual:
• Successful completion of a professional engineering degree. To be acceptable, the program must: (1) lead to a bachelor's degree (or higher) in a school of engineering with at least one program accredited by the Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology (ABET); or (2) include differential and integral calculus and courses (more advanced than first-year physics and chemistry) in five of the following seven areas of engineering science or physics: (a) statics, dynamics; (b) strength of materials (stress-strain relationships); (c) fluid mechanics, hydraulics; (d) thermodynamics; (e) electrical fields and circuits; (f) nature and properties of materials (relating particle and aggregate structure to properties); and (g) any other comparable area of fundamental engineering science or physics, such as optics, heat transfer, soil mechanics, or electronics. Such education must demonstrate the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position.

• Current registration as an Engineer Intern (EI), Engineer in Training (EIT), or licensure as a Professional Engineer (PE) by any State, the District of Columbia, Guam, or Puerto Rico. • Successful completion of at least 60 semester hours of courses in the physical, mathematical, and engineering sciences and in engineering that included the courses specified in the basic requirements under paragraph A (above). • Successful completion of a curriculum leading to a bachelor's degree in an appropriate scientific field, e.g., engineering technology, physics, chemistry, architecture, computer science, mathematics, hydrology, or geology, may be accepted in lieu of a bachelor's degree in engineering, provided the applicant has had at least one year of professional engineering experience acquired under professional engineering supervision and guidance. Ordinarily, there should be either an established plan of intensive training to develop professional engineering competence, or several years of prior professional engineering-type experience, e.g., in interdisciplinary positions.
