Overview:

This role is designed for a skilled professional who will engage in the execution of predictive, preventive, or scheduled maintenance initiatives aimed at supporting the electrical, motor control, process control systems, or pneumatic systems within the facility. The Electrical and Instrumentation Technician is responsible for diagnosing, troubleshooting, and proposing solutions for equipment repairs that may extend beyond the planned maintenance scope. Effective communication regarding job progress will be maintained through a maintenance management software system, verbal discussions, or written reports. Adherence to all safety protocols and electrical maintenance standards is mandatory.

Key Responsibilities: Collaborate as part of a team or work independently to diagnose, troubleshoot, and implement repair strategies for electrical power and control systems, along with process control components. Apply and adhere to established electrical work practices and guidelines, including those set forth by organizations such as the National Fire Protection Agency (NEC) and the IEEE, to ensure compliance and quality. Utilize the maintenance management system to develop job plans and document maintenance activities on plant assets. Recognize the importance of food safety and quality systems, actively participating in related initiatives and ensuring compliance with good manufacturing practices. Engage in the Performance Excellence process to drive continuous improvement. Qualifications: Strong commitment to safety and a zero-injury culture; adherence to company safety protocols is essential. Fundamental understanding of AC/DC circuit theory. Basic familiarity with process sensors and transmitters. Knowledge of electrical safety devices such as breakers and fuses. Proven track record of safe work practices and a commitment to enhancing safety policies. 2-4 years of experience in instrumentation or a related degree in an industrial or commercial environment; capable of conduit installation, troubleshooting, and blueprint reading. Excellent communication and organizational abilities; capable of collaborating effectively with colleagues and management to meet deadlines. Eagerness to enhance technical skills through on-the-job training or external education. Flexibility to work shifts and weekends as required. Extensive experience with Computerized Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS), specifically Maximo. Comprehensive understanding of operations and maintenance within a food manufacturing environment. Training Requirements: New hires will undergo on-the-job training to develop necessary skills and certifications, assessed against established benchmarks. Completion of safety, food safety, quality, and environmental training is required. Participation in company planner operations training is mandatory. Equipment training may encompass various operational machinery and safety protocols. Working Environment: Exposure to dust and various chemicals/irritants commonly used in mechanical tasks, necessitating adherence to safety guidelines. Inside conditions may involve extreme temperatures, with summer highs potentially exceeding 100 degrees and winter lows falling below freezing. Outside conditions may also reach extreme temperatures and involve exposure to inclement weather. Manufacturing processes may produce noise levels exceeding 85 decibels, requiring hearing protection for the majority of the work shift. Physical Demands: Ability to lift and transport materials weighing up to thirty (30) pounds frequently and up to fifty (50) pounds occasionally; assistance is encouraged for heavier items. Capability to traverse distances of up to two (2) miles throughout the workday. Frequent bending, kneeling, or squatting may be required, along with periods of prolonged sitting or standing. Ability to operate equipment and diagnose machinery issues at various heights, including work on ladders or scaffolding. Full range of physical motion is necessary for operating manual and powered tools, moving throughout the facility, and climbing stairs.
