Job Overview

We are seeking a qualified Equipment Integrity Supervisor to lead our inspection and maintenance initiatives. This role is pivotal in establishing standards and providing guidance for engineering practices and reliability programs related to fixed equipment, inspection, and mechanical integrity. The Equipment Integrity Supervisor will oversee the implementation and upkeep of fixed equipment inspection protocols to ensure adherence to relevant industry standards and regulations.

Key Objectives

  • Foster a culture centered on reliability throughout the organization.
  • Identify and advocate for the short, medium, and long-term requirements of fixed equipment to support dependable and compliant operations.
  • Lead the development and execution of fixed equipment and inspection programs that enhance performance at the facility.
  • Ensure all operational equipment undergoes thorough inspections in line with integrity requirements and regulatory obligations.

Main Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement a comprehensive fixed equipment inspection program that complies with all applicable laws and industry standards.
  • Manage departmental budgeting, routine and turnaround work scoping, and oversee the training and certification of inspection personnel.
  • Coordinate the inspection work process, collaborating with various departments to analyze equipment design and operational data, leading to prioritized inspection plans.
  • Supervise the inspection team, including internal inspectors and external contractors for non-destructive testing and maintenance services.
  • Provide oversight for the Fitness for Service program to assess the remaining life of equipment and determine the need for repairs or re-inspections.
  • Review turnaround inspection plans and provide recommendations.
  • Support inspection needs for capital projects.
  • Maintain and report on departmental Key Performance Indicators and Corporate Metrics.
  • Update and enhance inspection procedures to align with industry advancements and new regulatory requirements.
  • Offer technical support related to quality assurance and compliance with engineering specifications and standards.
  • Advise on operational changes that may impact the mechanical integrity of pressure equipment.
  • Actively engage in turnarounds and outages, committing to the expected workload.
  • Participate in process safety initiatives to understand overpressure protection methods and review Management of Change (MOC) initiatives.
  • Assist in preparing for regulatory inspections by collaborating with all stakeholders involved in pressure equipment integrity.
  • Mentor and train field personnel on pressure equipment integrity matters.
  • Identify and implement training programs for Fixed Equipment Inspection staff.
  • Provide ongoing performance feedback and support for team members to foster their professional development.
  • Ensure metrics are in place to measure and review the effectiveness of the inspection program.
  • Review mechanical integrity recommendations for all relevant projects, including routine Work Order Root Cause Analyses.
  • Support the development of expense and capital projects related to fixed equipment.
  • Lead incident investigations for equipment failure events when necessary.
  • Develop a long-term plan for fixed equipment reliability projects and contribute to strategic business planning.

Team Structure

Reports to: Mechanical Reliability Manager
Direct Reports: Area Inspectors, Contract NDE inspection services

Qualifications

Required Experience:

  • At least 15 years of experience in inspection or mechanical integrity roles.
  • API 510/570/653 and/or CWI Certification is essential.
  • A two-year technical degree is preferred, though extensive experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.
  • Strong knowledge of common refinery processes and damage mechanisms is required.
  • Ability to qualify for a National Board Commission (NBIC) is necessary.

  • Proven capability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and set realistic schedules.

  • Excellent interpersonal and collaborative skills.
  • Strong verbal, analytical, organizational, technical writing, and presentation skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications.
