Position Overview

Role Summary

The Youth Care Supervisor is tasked with providing direction and oversight to the Youth Care Specialists. This includes the development and management of their team members, organizing schedules, and participating in the recruitment process. The Supervisor is accountable for maintaining safe and secure operations within the program, ensuring compliance with contractual obligations as well as local, state, and federal regulations. Through effective leadership, the Supervisor will inspire and guide the team.

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee team members and youth in alignment with operational policies to guarantee the safety and security of all individuals; report any incidents that deviate from established policies to the appropriate leadership.
  • Assist in creating work schedules to ensure adequate coverage in accordance with required ratios.
  • Provide timely feedback on performance to team members, both positive and constructive; complete performance evaluations and submit them for review, recommending suitable incentives and ensuring opportunities for growth are available.
  • Guide youth in the general upkeep and management of the facility and its equipment; supervise the safe use of program property in accordance with established safety protocols.
  • Supervise a diverse range of academic, vocational, and motivational activities both on and off campus.
  • Act as a mentor and positive role model for both youth and team members.
  • Communicate essential information to relevant team members and supervisors.
  • Utilize the Behavior Modification System effectively by providing redirection and coaching to youth.
  • May be responsible for administering medication.
  • Provide first aid and CPR during emergencies, adhering to national standards, and practice emergency evacuation procedures.
  • Help establish positive youth conduct and discipline; lead or participate in meetings focused on positive reinforcement and interdisciplinary care reviews.
  • May be required to participate in special activities, including day and overnight trips, which may involve extended work hours.
  • Attend and maintain training and certification in crisis intervention and physical restraint as required by state and contract guidelines.
  • Prevent and manage youth altercations using authorized training methods; escalate serious disciplinary issues to the appropriate personnel.
  • Maintain CPR and First Aid certification through a nationally recognized organization.
  • Participate in all required training and professional development sessions, ensuring all certifications and licenses are up to date.
  • Operate institute vehicles as necessary, following van policies and procedures.
  • Transport youth and perform other work-related driving tasks.
  • Assist with special projects and other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED is required.
  • A minimum of six months of supervisory experience is required.
  • At least one year of experience working with youth, preferably within the Juvenile Justice System.
