Position Overview

The Laboratory Quality Assurance Specialist plays a crucial role in supporting the Quality Management Services of the laboratory, ensuring compliance with various regulatory and accrediting bodies. Responsibilities include generating statistical reports, overseeing quality assurance initiatives, and assisting with accreditation and certification processes. Under the supervision of the Medical Director, this role collaborates with the Quality Management Systems Manager and the AVP of the Clinical Laboratory to manage laboratory quality operations, including audits and cooperation with hospital-wide quality assurance programs.

Qualifications and Experience

  • A Bachelor's Degree in Medical Technology or Medical Laboratory Science is required.
  • A minimum of two years of progressively responsible clinical laboratory experience is essential.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, particularly Word and Excel (including graphing and charting), along with database management skills, is required.
  • Familiarity with Quality Management/Quality Improvement methodologies and Lean/Six Sigma principles is preferred.
  • Experience in project management is advantageous.

Certification and Licensure

  • Certification in Medical Laboratory Sciences or Medical Technology by ASCP or an equivalent organization is mandatory.
  • A valid driver's license is required, and the candidate must be insurable under Avera Health's automobile liability insurance policy.

Work Schedule

  • Monday to Friday, 7:00 AM to 4:30 PM; 80 hours biweekly

Compensation

The hourly wage for this position is competitive and will be determined based on experience.
