Position Overview

The Construction Safety Manager will play a crucial role in supporting the Project Staff and the safety team at RDES Incorporated. This position is essential for implementing corporate safety and health standards in alignment with Federal, State, and Local regulations. You will be responsible for fostering a culture of safety on each project, conducting regular jobsite safety inspections, and ensuring effective communication during orientations for new employees.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist in the formulation of the project safety program.
  • Conduct jobsite orientations for new employees, ensuring proper documentation and identification issuance.
  • Monitor and secure necessary licenses for both employees and the company, tracking renewal and training dates.
  • Participate in initial meetings with project staff to clarify roles within the safety program.
  • Facilitate pre-planning safety meetings with project managers and staff to establish safety protocols.
  • Engage with clients regarding safety matters.
  • Organize and lead regular safety meetings to ensure compliance with safety standards.
  • Provide training for site personnel to uphold safety standards as per RDES and regulatory requirements.
  • Maintain records of toolbox safety meetings conducted by project managers.
  • Review project managers' safety programs to ensure they meet or exceed required standards.
  • Conduct daily and weekly jobsite inspections, documenting safety violations and corrective actions.
  • Report any violations or unsafe practices to project managers for immediate resolution.
  • Take immediate action to halt any unsafe acts or practices.
  • Assist in developing fire prevention and emergency response procedures.
  • Investigate incidents and prepare comprehensive reports.
  • Maintain all necessary safety documentation.
  • Conduct monthly safety overview meetings and participate in project staff meetings to discuss safety issues.
  • Perform additional duties as required.

Qualifications

  • Proven experience or a Bachelor's Degree in Safety, Environmental Health & Safety, or a related field.
  • 6-12 years of relevant experience in construction, with a solid understanding of safety principles.
  • A minimum of 6 years of field experience.
  • OSHA 30-hour construction certification is required.
  • OSHA 500 Outreach Trainer certification is advantageous.
  • Physical capability to navigate construction sites, including climbing and inspecting various structures.
  • Vision capabilities including close vision and depth perception.
  • Ability to lift and move items up to 50 pounds.
  • Willingness to work at heights and navigate scaffolding.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications.
