Position Overview
The Site Safety Coordinator will collaborate with the Project Team and the RDES safety department to implement corporate safety protocols and health standards in accordance with Federal, State, and Local regulations. Your role will involve not only project-specific duties but also active participation in initiatives aimed at fostering a culture of zero injuries on-site. Responsibilities include conducting regular safety inspections, providing orientation for new team members, assisting project managers with daily safety assessments, promoting daily wellness programs, identifying safety trends, and implementing proactive measures to prevent incidents. You will be a key advocate for safe work practices and will ensure that all incidents are reported promptly and accurately.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist in formulating the safety program for each project.
- Conduct jobsite orientations for new employees, ensuring proper documentation and identification issuance.
- Monitor and secure necessary licenses for employees and the organization, tracking renewal dates and training requirements.
- Participate in initial project meetings to clarify safety roles and responsibilities.
- Facilitate pre-planning safety discussions with project managers and team members to establish safety protocols before site activities commence.
- Engage with clients regarding safety matters.
- Organize and lead regular safety meetings to ensure compliance with safety standards.
- Provide training for site personnel, ensuring adherence to OSHA and RDES safety standards.
- Maintain records of toolbox safety meetings conducted by project managers.
- Review and assess project managers' safety programs to ensure compliance with safety requirements.
- Conduct daily and weekly inspections of job sites, documenting safety violations and necessary corrective actions.
- Report and document any safety violations or unsafe practices to project managers for immediate resolution.
- Take immediate action to halt any unsafe practices.
- Assist in establishing fire prevention and emergency evacuation procedures.
- Investigate incidents and prepare detailed reports.
- Maintain all required safety documentation.
- Conduct monthly safety overview meetings and participate in project staff meetings to discuss safety issues.
- Perform additional duties as required.
Qualifications
- A Bachelor's Degree in Safety, Environmental Health & Safety, Occupational Health and Safety, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
- 6-12 years of relevant experience in construction, with a solid understanding of safety principles and practices.
- A minimum of 6 years of field experience.
- OSHA 30-hour construction certification.
- OSHA 500 Outreach Trainer certification is advantageous.
- Physical capability to navigate construction sites, including climbing ladders and scaffolding.
- Vision requirements include close vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
- Ability to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds occasionally.
- Comfortable working at heights and navigating construction environments.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office and other relevant software.
