Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Security Services Assistant 2 to join our team at Stony Brook Medicine. The successful candidate will be responsible for supervising and coordinating the activities of Security Services Assistant I, ensuring the safety and security of our patients, staff, and visitors.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide training and guidance to subordinates on security and safety procedures.
  • Communicate effectively with staff and visitors regarding facility information and security operations.
  • Write and maintain accurate reports of activities and incidents.
  • Determine patrol assignments and respond to emergency calls.
  • Conduct pre-shift briefings and inspections to ensure compliance with security protocols.
  • Review time sheets, prepare evaluations, and recommend disciplinary action as needed.
  • Resolve minor conflicts and report security incidents to higher-level security staff or management.
Requirements
  • Must have taken and passed the specific job-related Civil Service exam and be reachable on the appropriate Civil Service list.
  • Must have served one year of permanent service in the Security Services Assistant I title to qualify.
  • Must meet physical and medical requirements as determined by the Director of Health Services of the Department of Civil Service.
  • Must have a valid NYS Driver's License and a motor vehicle record free from major violations or a pattern of repeat violations.
  • Must possess and maintain a current security guard photo ID issued by NYS Department of State.
  • Must be able to perform mandatory overtime.
