Optical Metrology Technician III


Ametek, Inc. is a prominent player in the design and production of cutting-edge optical measurement systems and highly precise optical components and assemblies.

Our objective is to empower our clients by providing innovative solutions in precision measurement and optics. Ametek's metrology offerings are utilized for measuring absolute positions, displacements, surface characteristics, and film thickness. The applications for these products span various sectors, including semiconductor production, precision machining, and optical manufacturing.

Our optics division capitalizes on Ametek's proficiency in optical design, assembly, and high-volume manufacturing of precision optical components and systems for sectors such as aerospace, defense, medical, and industrial.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct a variety of assessments on optical surfaces utilizing interferometry, CMM, AFM, and PMM techniques.
  • Calibrate and ensure the proper functioning of specific equipment and custom optical assessments.
  • Establish and dismantle various testing configurations.
  • Execute software analysis routines on test data and interpret results as either compliant or non-compliant.
  • Handle and maintain optical components without compromising their surfaces.
  • Uphold a clean and organized workspace by adhering to cleaning protocols and inventory management.
  • Perform maintenance and preventative upkeep on testing equipment and tools.
  • Collaborate with engineering teams to develop testing methodologies for new products.

Qualifications

  • Associate degree in a relevant technical field with 5 years of related experience, or a high school diploma or equivalent with 8 years of relevant experience.
  • Experience in a manufacturing setting.
  • Familiarity with basic troubleshooting of processes.
  • Experience with optics and optical testing is preferred but not mandatory.
  • Ability to work collaboratively within a team and possess strong communication skills.
  • Detail-oriented, organized, and meticulous.
  • Proficient in computer applications, including MS Word and Excel.
  • Basic mathematical skills.
