Position Overview

Role Summary: The Optical Technician/Equipment Operator is responsible for the effective operation of various semiconductor wafer slicing and processing machinery, ensuring adherence to quality and productivity standards within a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

Collaboration: This role requires close collaboration with team members, area leads, and manufacturing supervisors to meet performance objectives in key areas such as Efficiency, Yield, Throughput, Cycle Time, Scrap, Inventory Accuracy, and Time Lost Accuracy. Performance metrics are established quarterly, and team achievements are evaluated against these benchmarks.

Key Responsibilities
  • Operate and configure production wafer slicing and processing equipment, demonstrating the ability to manage multiple tasks across various machines.
  • Acquire proficiency in diverse manufacturing processes while upholding standards for workmanship, safety, and productivity.
  • Engage in troubleshooting and rework operations, necessitating a solid understanding of multiple processing stations and the final product.
  • Conduct inspections of personal and peer work, performing minor repairs as necessary.
  • Provide mentorship to colleagues in areas of expertise when required.
  • Accurately complete manufacturing documentation, initiate basic material requests, report quality concerns, and record measurements as needed.
  • Execute preparation tasks such as line clearance and changeover efficiently.
  • Identify and report discrepancies in materials/components both verbally and in writing.
  • Ensure the accuracy of material identification and counts at point-of-use, reporting any shortages promptly.
  • Adhere to all corporate, regulatory, safety, and production policies and procedures.
  • Maintain an exemplary attendance record.
  • Undertake additional duties as assigned.
  • Escalate production issues through appropriate channels and work towards resolution.
  • Guide and lead new technicians during collaborative projects when multiple technicians are involved.
  • Be prepared to work extended hours as needed to meet production deadlines.
General Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent military training, technical diploma, or relevant experience; an Associate's degree in a technical field is preferred.
  • A minimum of 1-2 years of experience in a role requiring strict adherence to detailed instructions.
  • Eagerness to learn and develop knowledge in wafer fabrication to enhance technical skills.
  • Strong craftsmanship and attention to detail, coupled with the ability to work efficiently.
  • Quality-oriented with the capability to manage time across multiple competing tasks and priorities.
  • Ability to lift 30-50 pounds regularly and maintain a safe working environment.
  • Aptitude for problem-solving.
  • Willingness to work overtime as necessary.
