Basic Function
Under the guidance of a designated supervisor, execute essential personnel and administrative tasks within the realms of recruitment, assessment, placement, and upkeep of employee records and documentation. Provide assistance and information to college personnel, staff, and the public regarding various personnel issues, both in person and via telephone.

Key Responsibilities
1. Execute a range of personnel and administrative tasks associated with the recruitment, assessment, selection, and processing of classified or academic staff as directed.
2. Offer information and support to college personnel, staff, and the public concerning personnel matters, including job openings, regulations, policies, and procedures.
3. Manage the processing of personnel requisitions; create and disseminate job postings; arrange local and regional newspaper advertisements; prepare purchase orders for advertising and supply needs.
4. Compile, type, update, and maintain various forms, reports, bulletins, records, schedules, lists, reference materials, and files according to established protocols; ensure accuracy and completeness of information.
5. Organize and maintain files of job applications, transcripts, and related documents; screen for completeness and refer to the appropriate department for the selection process.
6. Prepare and submit agenda items for Board approval and pay authorization forms; determine appropriate pay rates based on established guidelines; audit and distribute paychecks; gather time sheets for payroll processing.
7. Handle workers' compensation claims for district office employees; coordinate services with claims representatives; monitor employee use of workers' compensation leave and collaborate with payroll.
8. Assist in the examination process for applicants as needed; organize written examination materials; administer, evaluate, and score written tests; notify successful candidates.
9. Schedule and coordinate interviews; prepare and distribute candidate and selection committee materials; communicate interview requirements to applicants and arrange necessary equipment.
10. Process various forms related to employee status changes, including new hires, promotions, temporary reclassifications, retirements, resignations, and leaves of absence.
11. Conduct orientation for new employees, providing information on district policies, procedures, and available benefits; assist with enrollment forms as necessary.
12. Maintain office supply inventories and ensure confidentiality of sensitive information.
13. Attend meetings and participate in assigned committees as directed.

Minimum Qualifications
Any combination equivalent to: Associate degree and two years of progressively responsible general clerical experience involving public interaction.

Knowledge and Skills
Knowledge of:
- Modern Human Resource office functions, practices, and procedures.
- General payroll practices and procedures.
- Record-keeping techniques.
- Operation of computer systems.
- Effective oral and written communication skills.
- Telephone etiquette and techniques.
- Correct English usage, grammar, spelling, punctuation, and vocabulary.
- Interpersonal skills demonstrating tact, patience, and courtesy.
- Basic arithmetic.

Ability to:
- Execute responsible personnel and clerical tasks in recruitment, assessment, placement, and maintenance of personnel records and documentation.
- Safeguard confidential materials.
- Learn and apply personnel rules and related procedures.
- Communicate effectively in both oral and written forms.
- Maintain records and prepare reports.
