Airfield Operations Coordinator

Overview
You will take on the role of an Airfield Operations Coordinator within the Air Operations Division of the Commander, Navy Installations.

Key Responsibilities
Your primary duties will include conducting regular airfield assessments to detect any inconsistencies and operational failures (such as navigational aids, landing systems, airfield illumination, and pavement conditions).

You will oversee aerial port functions in alignment with Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) standards to maintain a secure, efficient, and effective airfield atmosphere.

Additionally, you will provide guidance to clients and personnel on technical transportation matters to ensure adherence to airfield operational policies and protocols.

You will evaluate traffic management strategies, programs, policies, and procedures to fulfill mission objectives related to airfield operations.

Qualifications
To qualify, your resume must illustrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-09 grade level in the Federal service or comparable experience in the private or public sector.

Specialized experience should demonstrate the following competencies:

  1. Assessing the state of airfield infrastructure (including pavements, runways, taxiways, lighting, signage, etc.) to ensure compliance with safety standards and determine operational viability;
  2. Supporting air traffic controllers in planning flight paths, submitting flight plans, and securing clearances for operations in controlled airspace;
  3. Coordinating responses to airfield emergencies and incidents;
  4. Collaborating with aviation tenants to address airfield-related concerns (such as airfield safety waivers and site approvals).
